About Fly Cape Town
Founded in 2006 by owner and pilot Stephan Kruger, Fly Cape Town is a full paragliding home base: tandem flights, training all the way to a licence, guiding for visiting pilots, and equipment sales. We fly from Signal Hill and Lion's Head inside Table Mountain National Park, gliding over Camps Bay, Clifton and the Twelve Apostles before landing at the sea.

Tandem paragliding flight — R1 800
The hero flight. No experience needed — your licensed pilot handles everything while you take in the whole peninsula from the air. Pay R1,800 after you fly, or pay a R300 deposit on booking and the total is R1,700.

Safety

- Every pilot is licensed and flies Cape Town's conditions daily.
- Equipment is inspected regularly; we'd rather postpone than push a marginal day.
- You're briefed thoroughly before you leave the ground.
Learn to fly
Basic Paragliding Licence (~14 days)
Become a safe, competent licensed pilot: a minimum of 35 flights including ridge soaring and thermalling, theory classes and a written exam. Start from age 16, licensed from 17.
Sports Paragliding Licence (2 days)
The next level — meteorology, safe decision-making, all safety manoeuvres and a written exam for your Sports rating.
Intro to Safety Flight Simulation (1 day)
Fly tandem with an instructor who simulates every Sports-licence manoeuvre, then try inducing them yourself from the front seat.
Gift vouchers
Give the gift of flight. A tandem voucher is R1,800, valid three years, and we'll extend it if the weather doesn't play along.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need any experience to fly?
- None at all. Tandem flights are flown with a fully licensed pilot who handles the launch, flight and landing. You just enjoy the view.
- How long is the flight?
- Airtime is typically 7 to 20 minutes depending on the wind and conditions on the day.
- Is paragliding safe?
- We're SAHPA registered and SACAA-compliant (DTO SACAA/0019). Pilots are licensed, equipment is inspected regularly, and we postpone rather than fly a marginal day.
- What happens if the weather is bad?
- Flights are weather-dependent. If conditions aren't favourable we reschedule you, and gift vouchers are extendable so nothing goes to waste.
- How much does it cost?
- A tandem flight is R1,800 if you pay after you fly. Pay a R300 deposit when you book and the total is R1,700. Optional GoPro photo and video of your flight is R400.
- Where do you launch and land?
- We launch from Signal Hill or Lion's Head and land at the Camps Bay sports field or the Sea Point promenade, depending on the wind.
